120 State St. Carbon Cliff

We have taken some time off from our typical blogging, reaching out to customers, and overall working for money to rebuild our home, pictured above. In November of 2017 we had the unfortunate experience of watching our home burn, the same home we raised our children in and spent countless hours working on home improvement projects for others. We were fortunate enough to watch it burn down together with our children close by and since nobody was hurt we opted to relocate and take as much time as we needed to get a newly remodeled home! The picture above is the structure of our house after contents were removed and the damaged portions demolished. We will post pictures of the new house soon, we are anxiously awaiting the final projects to be completed so we can turn the new structure into a HOME! Check back soon for updated pictures.

New Storm Door

Signs you need a new storm door. 1. Trouble opening, closing or locking the door. Our extreme hot and cold temperatures causes warping due to expansion/contraction. This leaves the door no longer fitting properly in its frame leaving your home less secure than it was. 2. Small cracks allow outside air to infiltrate your home along with heat to escape allowing insects in and rising energy costs. Contact me to get a free estimate on a new Pella storm door. Gutters

  • Without gutters, water can damage landscaping and cause soil erosion around your home.
  • Water hitting dirt close to the house can create a mess when the dirt splashes back against the siding.
  • Concentrated water hitting decks and door entrances can splash back against the house causing high moisture levels which can lead to wood rot.
  • Safety entering and leaving a home may be a problem when people run to avoid a downpour and/or water freezing on walkways.
  • Falling water may hit windows and leak, causing water damage inside the walls or on interior walls.
  • Rain water may find gaps in the siding, and when trapped behind siding, water can support mold growth and other problems.Even brick and stone siding can be damaged when water forms ice in cracks.
  • Repeated exposure to rain water can reduce how long your home's painted surfaces last before they need to be re-painted.
We offer gutter accessories for minimal cleaning of your gutter system, Gutter Guards.   For a quote on gutters for your home contact me to schedule an appointment.

How to Clean Your Vinyl Siding

Most people pick vinyl siding because of its clean look. Over time vinyl siding can start to look dirty and dull. Let Fauser Home Improvement tell you how to give your vinyl siding an overall cleaning. Start by covering all electrical fixtures and outlets on the exterior of your home. Move all toys, grills, and etc., away from the structure. Check for mold, mildew or dirt. These will be dark spots on the siding. To test it out, put a drop of bleach on the dark spot. Mold will turn white while dirt will stay black. Get rid of mildew with 5 parts water to 1 part bleach. Once you've finished the prep work, you're ready to get started washing the siding.

Using a garden hose, apply a gentle mist to water the vinyl. Using too much pressure can cause      water to get under the vinyl, damaging the wood underneath. Vinyl siding is designed for rain to fall on it from the sky, so hold the hose down, onto the siding. Fill a handheld garden sprayer with dish soap and turn the hose to spray a small section of your siding. Working in small sections will make sure that the sun doesn’t dry the soap to the vinyl before you get a chance to scrub or rinse. Dampen your scrub bush with water. Starting at the bottom, scrub from side to side until you get to the top. Using a long handled brush may be enough to reach to the roof. If not, use a ladder. Rinse from the top down and then move on to the next section until is completed.
